Nick Waltz

Crop Scouting Lead
8 years

Coming from Baldwin City in northeastern Kansas, Nick found his way to VFF with a unique background. Although not raised on a farm, his early involvement in cattle and hay operations during high school ignited a profound interest in agriculture. Driven by his love for the outdoors, Nick pursued a degree in agronomy at Kansas State University. Summer breaks spent with a wheat harvest crew solidified his desire to be directly engaged in farm operations after college. In 2016, Nick joined VFF as a summer intern upon graduating from K-State.

Nick was quickly nicknamed “Agronomo” to not confuse him with VFF’s Nick Wiebe. The seamless integration of Agronomo into VFF’s work environment and culture led to his continued full-time employment at the end of his internship. Agronomos primary responsibility is to scout all of VFF’s fields on a weekly basis and provide detailed scouting reports to the VFF management team. He also oversees VFF’s soil sampling program. During fall harvest, Agronomo switches gears and jumps over to the harvest field to fill in wherever necessary. He embodies the spirit of a true team player and is willing to fill whatever role is needed to help the VFF team.

WHY VFF:
“I love farming. Simply put, I have an opportunity to be involved in agriculture here, and that is what I love to do.”
