Crop Insurance
16 years

Originally from Auvergne, France, Luc grew up in a rural, mountainous area. He spent his childhood working on his uncle’s dairy farm and recognized agriculture was his deepest passion. His journey brought him to the United States in 1998 as an exchange student at Kansas State University, where a deep friendship with Brian flourished as they attended classes together and even shared an office during their graduate studies.

After obtaining his M.S. degree in agricultural economics, Luc ventured into the industry, serving as a production manager at Cal-Maine Foods in Chase, Kansas, for two years. He then joined the Kansas Farm Management Association in Colby, Kansas, as a field economist. Returning to K-State to pursue his Ph.D. in agricultural economics, Luc later joined the faculty at Purdue University as an assistant professor of farm management. However, in 2009, he made the pivotal decision to join VFF.

Luc brings significant experience and skills in the area of agricultural economics and farm management to VFF. In 2010, Luc created Labache Ag and began selling crop insurance and providing ag-management services to area farmers. Based on probabilities and statistics, Luc guides farmers and landowners in optimizing their selection of crop insurance policies—an important component of profitability in Western Kansas. Together, Luc and Brian pioneered the concept of the flex-lease arrangement between landowners and tenants in the region. As ag-economists, they share the vision of creating the perfect lease arrangement that maximizes returns to farmland while also dividing the profits equitably between landowners and tenants.
