Leighton grew up in Scott City, Kansas, where he developed a deep connection to the land and agriculture. His passion for farming inspired him to pursue a career in the agricultural industry. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics with a minor in agronomy from Kansas State University, and he later returned to get his master’s in agribusiness.
Leighton’s relationship with VFF began when he started mowing lawns for the farm in sixth grade. His determined and proactive attitude has made him an asset to the VFF team. He contributes his time to both field and office work, where he plays a vital role in land management and general business operations. One of his primary responsibilities involves overseeing the farm’s FSA paperwork and managing farm programs and policies. Additionally, Leighton actively participates in field operations, operating machinery such as the combine during harvest and in planting and spraying tasks.
Leighton is married to Kayla and they have two children. In his free time, he enjoys spending quality time with family and expanding his aviation experience through flying.
