Dean da Mota

Texas Farm Supervisor
10 years

Dean was born in South Africa and spent a few years living in Dubai before returning to South Africa. His passion for farming began during visits to his grandfather’s ranch. Since March 2014, Dean has been working at VFF on an H2A agricultural visa, and he applied for a more permanent status in 2022 to pursue a long-term career at VFF.

Since 2020, Dean has been managing and maintaining the Texas farm. Deans’ duties in Texas include: mowing and cleaning, working fields, maintaining and fixing irrigation pivots, driving trucks and grain carts during harvest season, and seed tendering during planting season. He also runs combines and plants in Kansas. Dean’s direct and genuine personality makes him loved by many and respected by all. He is a hard worker and always gets the job done no matter what it takes. Dean also enjoys being around and meeting new people.

WHY VFF:
“Working mainly on the Texas farm comes with its own set of challenges, such as unpredictable weather patterns and physical demands. However I enjoy the challenge of adapting to the changing weather conditions and crop yields. The Texas farm is rewarding and gives me satisfaction.”
