Benjamin Spare

Crop Production Lead
13 years

Ben grew up working on his family’s farm near St. John and Lorraine, Kansas. He joined the VFF team in 2011 after graduating from Kansas State University with a degree in agricultural technology management and an agronomy internship with Crop Quest in Dodge City, Kansas. Ben’s extensive experience and education allowed him to take a position of great responsibility within VFF. Ben possesses an innate resourcefulness and an aptitude for problem-solving.

He is in charge of crop planning, one of the farm’s most critical jobs. He monitors the latest Pioneer hybrids, selecting the most optimal choices on a field-by-field basis to maximize VFF’s yield potential. Moreover, as Myles right-hand man, Ben navigates various technology needs, assisting in tasks encompassing office computer networking or precision ag equipment in the field. With all the tasks Ben handles for VFF, his favorite is still escaping from the office to run a combine during harvest.

WHY VFF:
“When things happen at VFF, they happen in a big way. It is satisfying to mobilize everyone towards a common goal, resulting in major accomplishments.”
